Paintbrush in hand, Tabitha wa Thuku harnesses the strength and passion that propelled her from her rural home in the Kiambu district of Kenya into the international world of visual art. In wa Thuku’s eyes, artists are gifted with the ability to interpret messages from a place beyond themselves. For over twenty years, she has given herself over as a conduit for those messages and, in doing so, produced the beautiful, brooding pieces that continue to capture the imaginations of art aficionados in East Africa and abroad.
